Chainring Bash Protection:

Chainring Guards (aka – Bash Guards) are designed to give you peace of mind when you play in the rocks and rough.  These are designed specifically to match our 38/24 Tooth Mountain Bike Chainrings, this metal chainring guard mounts in place of the big ring on a mountain bike triple crankset to protect your 2×9 or 2×10 (or even 2×11).

Our Mountain Bike 38/24 chainrings are sold separately, and mount in the “middle” and “small” ring positions of a standard 104/64 BCD ( Bolt Circle Diameter ) 4-bolt, mountain bike triple crank from most manufacturers.

– To convert from a mountain triple (3X) to a double (2X), use this chainring guard in place of the original large ring.

For simple protection against the occasional misjudged obstacle, chainring guards are designed to be sleek and relatively light, yet offer significant protection — not only from rocks or other damage, but they also help keep the chain on in cases of miss-shifts, derailleur misalignment and exceptional rough terrain.  These are the perfect accessory for a triple to double conversion.

Triple to Double Conversion:

Converting a Mountain Bike from a Triple (3 chainrings) to a double (2 chainrings) is simple with any of our 2x ring sets — and the matching chainring guard.  Choose the correct ratio 33/22, 36/22 or 38/24, then order the matching Chainring Guard.  The 2 chainrings mount on the triple in place of the middle and small rings, then the chainring guard goes on in place of the large ring.  Adjust the derailleurs, and you’re set.  The whole process does not take long, and you can do it without buying a new crank or derailleur.
