February 29, 2016 — Juniors Team Sponsorship Selections
There were a lot of awesome teams that submitted applications for consideration — more than we expected. That in itself is exciting for the future of cycling! But, at the same time, it certainly made the process of selection much more difficult. We commend you, all of you, on the great cycling programs you are running and building.
The process of selection included a lot of deliberation and was based on several factors like these: The expressed needs of the team (because it’s a Juniors Road product (specifically for rules compliance in road racing), does the team focus on road races?); Completeness of the application (was all the requested info included?); The extent of community involvement (support for grass-roots team building and encouragement of starting cyclists); paths for excellence; And, of course, (selfishly) potential exposure the team can provide.
Our purpose is definitely NOT to make kids our bill-board or mini salesmen. Yes, as a business what we do needs to include more than just good-will, so exposure is important, but the first intent with this product is to reduce stress for future cyclists (and their parents and coaches). Remember that the chief engineer at WickWerks spends his off-time coaching juniors.
March 1, 2016 — Final Selections
The WickWerks Team Sponsorships are awarded to the following teams (in no particular order):
Team NCCH p/b Dec Express — Ontario, Canada
NCVC Juniors — Virginia, USA
Velo Club ESPERIA PIASCO — Italy
CANNIBAL TEAM CT PAJURIS — Europe
Frazier Cycling Juniors — Georgia, USA
We will contact each selected team individually in the next couple days. Congratulations. In the meantime, please connect with us on Facebook.
Thank You! to everyone who took the time to participate in our challenge. As mentioned, the decisions were tough because we want to include everyone — we wish that were possible. We wish all the juniors great luck in all their riding and racing this coming year!
